Email: h.barefoot@herts.ac.uk
Key areas of expertise:I have responsibility for CPD activity for academic staff and am interested in developing processes and strategies which enhance student learning without being a burden to busy staff members.
I am interested in ensuring our students have appropriate graduate skills which enhance their employability prospects and have developed guidance and resources on assessment and feedback.
I am a very strong advocate of inclusive practice and I currently lead a University wide project to support Black and Minority Ethnic student success. It is essential that we address the attainment gap between white and BME students and I want to ensure that all our students have the opportunity to achieve to their full potential. I continue to teach Neuroscience and am keen to inspire and motivate students in their understanding of the workings of the brain.
I became a Principal Fellow of the HEA in July 2013 and lead the University’s CPD Framework enabling assessment and award of HEA Fellowships at Associate, Fellow and Senior levels.
